Manchester-born Georgia briefly left her breakthrough role on Coronation Street in 2003 to explore new acting avenues and it was during her hiatus from the soap that she joined the cast of BBC drama Casualty, playing the character of Ruth Winters. It’s where Mark, also known for his role as journalist Simon Kitson in hit police drama The Bill, met his girlfriend. Mark, now 53, was born in Chelmsford, Essex. He studied at Ardingly College before attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After a few background parts, his first major appearance on the big screen came in 1995 when he starred alongside Robert Downey Jr in Restoration.

Speaking out about how they met during an episode of Lorraine back in June 2022, Georgia confirmed that they had never married but that they ‘practically were’ given the length of the relationship. Lorraine said: “We saw you in Law and Order, we saw you in Blackpool, and of course we saw you in Casualty, so many other things that you did. I mean it’s great to have you back and I love the fact that in Casualty, you know you always make friends on set, that’s where you met your husband, which is rather lovely. The two of you being in sort of the same job, it’s really nice that.” Georgia then corrected the host, replying: “Yeah, we’re actually not married but we practically are because we’ve been together so long.” Lorraine quickly apologised, saying: “Oh I’m so sorry! I keep doing this!”

Mark appeared to allude to the break-up in an emotional social media post shared at the end of 2022, writing: “It’s been the worst year after a number of increasingly s**t years. My life finally fell apart. Thankfully, I’m incredibly lucky and have a family who have picked up the pieces and are trying to help me re-build myself. “It’s thanks to them I’m still here and trying to move forward. For that I am truly grateful. Whatever the new year brings I hope that strength, humility, joy and love are in abundance for you all.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
