We’ve had a look inside Benefit’s advent calendar (Image: Laura Mulley)As a beauty editor, I’ve been sussing out the best beauty advent calendars this autumn including – Charlotte Tilbury, Elemis and L’Occitane – to let you know which ones are really worth your cash – and I reckon Benefit’s 2024 offering is one of the most unique I’ve ever come across. This year’s Benefit advent calendar, called The Gorgeous Grocer, is priced at £156, and can be snapped up from retailers such as Sephora, Boots and John Lewis, as well as Benefit’s own website (keep reading for an extra offer currently available at Boots). As the name suggests, 2024’s creative design resembles a shopping basket, brimming with some of the brand’s top-selling make-up and skincare goodies, including BADGal Bang! Mascara and Gimme Brow+ Brow Gel, reports the Mirror. Like all beauty advent calendars, the value far exceeds what you shell out; in this case it’s nearly double, with the contents inside valued at over £295. Here’s why I think it’s worth giving it a thought… READ MORE: Stacey Solomon releases personalised jewellery advent calendar featuring her favourite pieces READ MORE: Unveiling royal make-up artist Hannah Martin’s beauty advent calendar – worth £570 but yours for £90

Benefit The Gorgeous Grocer Beauty Advent Calendar, £156 from Sephora Pros Unique packaging, and can be used for storage afterwards Contains some of Benefit’s bestsellers Minis are handy for travel Cons A lot of the products are very small Some of the make-up shades won’t suit everyone Less luxe-looking than some others The packaging Crafted to resemble a supermarket shopping basket and in a signature shade of vibrant pink, this advent calendar ‘box’ is possibly the most original I’ve ever seen. The 24 boxes fit neatly inside, and it’s all very cute and compact. While the cardboard inner boxes might not stand the test of time, the basket certainly will, and would make excellent storage in your bathroom or bedroom once it’s empty. The contents I was over the moon to discover some of my all-time favourite Benefit goodies inside, including Precisely, My Brow Pencil, The POREfessional Deep Retreat Pore-Clearing Clay Mask, and four out of six of the brand’s top-notch mascaras, including a full size tube of BADGal Bang!. The 24 products are a mix of full size (four), mini (five) and fun size (15). Although I would have preferred a few more larger sizes, these minis are perfect for travel, and a great way to try out shades before committing to a full size one. When it comes to shades, this is where this Benefit calendar may not be a fit for everyone. While there are plenty of universally suitable items, two of the brow products are tinted, and it’s unlikely that a recipient would use all five of the cheek shades. It’s wise to check these shades before purchasing, to avoid potentially not being able to use several of the products.

Benefit The Gorgeous Grocer Beauty Advent Calendar, £156 from Sephora The value Priced at £156 but valued over £295, which isn’t as high of a saving as some beauty advent calendars, but you’re getting nearly double your money’s worth. If you’re purchasing this from Boots, customers will also bag an additional free Benefit gift of four extra mini products when they splash out over £50 on the brand.
