Like many Casualty stars, Suzanne has had her fair share of roles in medical dramas, appearing in both Holby City and Doctors. But long before her Casualty fame, the 61-year-old made an appearance on Grange Hill when she was 32, playing teacher Miss Foster. And her TV career didn’t end after the show either. Since Casualty, she featured in an episode of Death in Paradise as Maya Oprey in 2018, and this year starred in ITV’s The Pembrokeshire Murders. But what many don’t know is that her brother is also famous, but for a different reason.

Suzanne’s brother is Colin Jackson, a former sprint and hurdling athlete, who made his name when he won an Olympic silver medal. He has been world champion twice, and his 60-metre hurdle time was a world record for an incredible 27 years. Since his Olympic career, he has presented sport on the BBC, and even featured on Dancing On Ice in 2021. Their family grew up in Cardiff in South Wales, and have Jamaican heritage. Before her acting career, Suzanne went to the National Youth Theatre in Wales and taught drama in schools.

Speaking to the BBC about her time as a teacher, she shared: “I loved it. And do you know why? Because of the acting. They fed off each other in a very, very positive way.” The siblings have only ever appeared together on TV once—back in 2011 when Colin and Suzanne took part in the celeb edition of BBC’s Pointless, but unfortunately, they were booted out in the first round. And it’s not just her brother who is famous. Suzanne’s ex-husband is also an actor. The star was previously married to Jesse Newman between May 1997 and 2004, and they are reported to share a son together named Paris. Jesse has starred in the 2022 film F***ed in the Head as well as the 2014 comedy Motherless.
