Privacy NoticeA Place in the Sun’s Laura Hamilton has spilled the beans on a “disaster” episode of the beloved Channel 4 show that brought filming to an abrupt stop. The TV presenter recounted the mishap to The Sun, explaining how a simple mistake led to a major hiccup during the shoot in Florida. She confessed: “There was once an episode that I did where, unfortunately, the keys for the property got locked inside the property, and we couldn’t film it. That was a bit of a disaster. “It was in Florida, but that was so many years ago. So we had to call a wrap on that and then show them the property the next day, which wasn’t obviously ideal. But it was just one of those things.”

Laura continued, sharing the all-too-relatable panic that ensued: “It was kind of like, who’s got the keys? Oh, God, you know, imagine that thing that kind of happens at home. Who’s got the keys? Who’s got the keys? And it was like, oh my God, the keys are inside.” In a previous exclusive with Daily Star, she also revealed that during the infamous key incident, they managed to lock all their filming gear inside as well. She added: “In September [2021] all our cars ended up in a mudslide!” She added in a chat with Hello!: “One minute it was gorgeous sunshine and the next the heavens opened, and it absolutely pelted it down with rain. The property we were looking at was off the beaten track, and our seven vehicles pretty much got caught in a mudslide and we had to be rescued by tractors.” Laura quipped: “It was a disaster, but it made it memorable,” revealing that the moment of mishap was quite evident as she ended up parading around in “mud-covered high heeled shoes”. The revelation follows a recent episode of the Channel 4 series where emotions ran high, leading to an on-air apology from one emotional couple. Property expert Ben Hillman found himself in a tight spot while showing house-hunters Mark and Candy around potential homes in Spain.

The couple had their hearts set on a renovation project, but one particular property seemed to push them over the edge. Candy confessed: “I’m just not feeling this at all.” This prompted Ben to clarify: “I understood you incorrectly. I know you said a project is fine and the fact you are a builder as well. Have I run away with that?” Candy elaborated: “I’m finding that a little bit more daunting, the level of renovations so maybe we’ve not made it entirely clear,” indicating that their idea of a fixer-upper didn’t extend to the extensive refurbishment required for the house in question. Overcome with emotion, Candy broke down, leading Ben to gently probe: “It’s not what you’re imagining, not what you’re hoping for. This is a project too far, is it?” To which a tearful Candy replied: “It is, I’m sorry! “.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
