Privacy Notice Gemma Atkinson has candidly opened up about the reality of her partner Gorka Marquez being away for work, especially while raising their two children. The star is often quizzed by fans on how she manages solo parenting with Mia, 4, and baby Thiago when Gorka’s off dazzling audiences on Strictly Come Dancing. Gemma’s got a cheeky retort ready, as she shared with Heat magazine: “I get asked a lot, ‘How do you do that on your own with the kids and him being away? ‘ But it’s all we’ve known in our relationship. So I’m like, ‘How do you live with someone 24/7 and see them all the time?'” In an emotional turn, Gemma also revealed a tear-jerking moment from her daughter Mia’s fifth birthday. Despite the joyous celebrations, Mia’s wish tugged at heartstrings.

Gemma took to Instagram to express her feelings: “Thought I’d got through today cry free but Mia just told me in bed she’s had a really good birthday but her best present ever would have been if Norman came home.” Norman, their cherished dog, sadly passed away at the age of 12, leaving a void in the family. Adding to the birthday festivities, Gemma posted a sweet video of herself, Gorka, and little Thiago singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to a beaming Mia, who was about to blow out the candles on her beautifully decorated pink cake adorned with flowers and butterflies. She captioned the video with the word “Famila.” The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star then posted another video of herself. She told fans: “Birthday done! Everyone’s gone, Gorka’s gone for a run and yeah, got through it.” As the house was now completely empty she added that she was giving her open plan kitchen a hoover, quickly followed by going to bed as she felt “exhausted.”

But in a few days time, she will have to do it all over again as her little boy turns one. She added: “We’re going to do it all again 13 days because Thiago is turning one! Mia’s got her birthday party on Saturday for all her school mates so that’ll be good and yeah, then we go again for Thaigo turning one… Oh my God! ” Gemma accompanied the clip: “That’s a wrap!” Fans rushed to Gemma’s social media as she announced the passing of her dog. Thanking fans for their kind words, she wrote: “Just to say thank you again. My hair’s not been washed in days. Norm’s obviously not here now. Well he is, just not in his shell. Although the amount of feathers, white feathers, genuinely… So much happened these last few days that I will tell you about when I can speak about it without crying… Thank you for your messages.
