In recent episodes, Phil’s life has taken some unexpected turns. In a bombshell reveal last year, it was discovered that he was the secret father to Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) child Albie, while his other son Ben (Max Bowden) faced imprisonment in the US, reports the Daily Star. Earlier this year, the introduction of Phil’s estranged relative Stevie (Alan Ford) stirred up drama. Phil went as far as to plant stolen cash on Stevie, hoping to set him up as “scum”. In a heart-wrenching episode aired on Wednesday, July 10, Stevie revealed a dark family secret – Billy’s mother didn’t abandon him, she took her own life after having an affair with Teddy’s mother. Upon learning the terrible truth, and discovering Phil’s framing of Stevie, an angry Billy confronted Phil, blaming him for causing further strain on his newly-discovered family relationships.

Billy defiantly told Phil, “I’m not the runt of the litter anymore,” and then declared, “You are” before making a dramatic exit and leaving Phil to brood in solitude. EastEnders enthusiasts are now bracing themselves for a gut-wrenching plot twist involving Phil, with speculation rife that it could signal his departure from the show. On social media platform X, fans voiced their concerns that Phil might succumb to old demons, with one fan posting: “I wonder if Phil’s loneliness storyline might lead to him having a relapse at some point.” Another fan expressed their worries, commenting: “Feel like this leading to an exit storyline where Phil is going to go back on the bottle and drink himself to death with no one round him hope that’s not the case because Phil is Eastenders to me but be great for Steve to enjoy retirement.” A third chimed in with their observation: “I think we’ve been in the midst of a Phil loneliness story for a while without realising. He’s felt like the hanger on to Billy’s unit since he and Kat split, he’s lost Ben, alienated Jay and Cal, Sharon is wary and even Denise feels sorry for him! Next step? A relapse! “. Yet another viewer speculated about the direction of Phil’s character arc, writing: “I think we’re going to get some kind of depression storyline coming for Phil especially this week. I’ve seen that he’s going to slowly starting to push everyone away and he’s going to start isolating himself from everyone.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
