Privacy NoticeJamie Oliver’s son Buddy is the latest celebrity chef’s child to land his own cooking show – but the CBBC star has said he was annoyed to see his famous dad arrive on set while he was showcasing his own culinary skills. Buddy, 13, has certainly picked up his dad’s passion for food and regularly features in Jamie’s TV shows and social media posts, helping out in the kitchen and tasting recipes. However, when the tables turned and Jamie stopped into Buddy’s CBBC show Cooking Buddies, like any teen Buddy felt his dad was cramping his style. The kids TV star laughed: “It was a bit annoying when Dad came over, ha ha! But it was fun!” He was pleased to have family dog Conker by his side though, saying: “Conker boosted my confidence and brought happiness to the set.”

Cooking Buddies started as a YouTube show and has now found a home at CBBC, where Buddy swaps recipe ideas with friends who teach him their skills including boxing, karate and football. It’s clear that dad-of-five Jamie, 49, is incredibly proud of his second youngest child’s achievements, saying: “Being able to cook is such an important skill for kids to learn, it’s up there with reading and writing – so I’m really proud of Buddy for making this brilliant show that encourages others to give it a go.” While Buddy might have joked that his dad gatecrashing filming was annoying, he obviously looks up to Jamie and has taken on many of his cooking tips.

Buddy said: “My favourite dish by my dad is definitely his seafood spaghetti or carbonara, as I love pasta so much and he makes it so delicious and flavourful.” He added: “I really enjoy making a simple spaghetti and meatballs for my brother (River, seven) as he absolutely loves them and they’re so easy to make.” Jamie has also been celebrating his son following in his footsteps by publishing his first cookbook, Let’s Cook, last week.

The chef posted a series of adorable photos on Instagram featuring Buddy as a toddler riding on his back in the kitchen, and as a small child holding his hand while he carried a trifle. He wrote: “Buddy’s been my shadow in the kitchen since he was tiny and he has always found cooking a real adventure. As a dad who cooks it’s been such a joy to watch and be a part of his journey learning new skills and cooking new dishes…just look at those pics of baby Buds!!! An now he’s released his own cookbook showing you’re never too young to start making incredible things, getting stuck in and having a proper laugh along the way.” The post, which was liked by Jennifer Aniston, got plenty of support as Joe Wicks commented: “This is absolutely amazing. Carrying on the message of his father and inspiring another generation. Congratulations Buddy.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK! MagazineFacebookTwitterCommentMore OnJamie OliverChristmas
