At 30 years old, Jamie is a beloved figure on EastEnders, but buzz is circulating that he might embrace a new venture on BBC One, specifically strutting his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing. However, the actor’s involvement might raise eyebrows among the Strictly regulars as he’d already graced the dance floor in the December 2023 holiday special. In that festive edition, paired with pro dancer Nancy Xu, Jamie wowed the judges and viewers by bagging a perfect score of 40, showing off his dazzling skills.

A source told The Sun: “Although an EastEnders actor is on Strictly every year, this is the first time a performer on the festive special has gone directly into the competition. Producers and viewers were blown away by Jamie’s dancing.” There’s also chatter about what this could mean for Jamie’s character in Albert Square, with the source adding: “It’s not clear yet whether he will take a break from the soap or if he’ll juggle dance rehearsals with doing scenes for the soap.” OK! has contacted BBC and Jamie’s reps for comment.

Last year, Bobby Brazier, who starred alongside Jamie in EastEnders, took to the Strictly dance floor with pro Dianne Buswell. And Jamie, who revealed he had previously turned down an offer from Strictly in September 2023, was a strong supporter of Bobby. He confessed to OK!: “They have asked me actually”, and added, “I can’t remember what year, 2018 I think. But it didn’t work out so I didn’t end up doing it. But… yeah.” The rumour mill has also been churning about the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing line-up as the show gears up for its 20th anniversary. However, plans to film at Buckingham Palace have reportedly been scrapped due to “logistical problems” and “diary clashes”. Behind-the-scenes whispers suggest that Giovanni Pernice’s bullying scandal may also be a contributing factor, reports the Mirror. Giovanni, a professional dancer on the show, has faced accusations of bullying his celebrity partners, including Amanda Abbington and Laura Whitmore, with his tough training methods. Following these allegations, which he strongly denies, the TV star decided to leave this year’s series while the BBC investigates the claims.
