Privacy NoticeLorraine Kelly has weighed in with her view after Strictly pro dancer Graziano Di Prima was axed from the hit TV show. The TV presenter, 64, was speaking to Heat’s Lucie Cave on Monday’s Lorraine show, 15 June, when she opened by saying: “This is very disturbing actually.” BBC bosses reportedly gave Graziano, 30, the boot just two days after being hit with video evidence showing issues with the star’s training of his celeb dance partner Zara McDermott, 27, with insiders claiming “it was game over.” The Daily Mail reports that Zara was a “victim of repeated physical and verbal abuse” behind the scenes. Executives were said to be left “flabbergasted” by the content and quickly dismissed him. Lorraine continued with her view, saying: “It’s a TV show and you want sparks to fly whether it’s good or bad – but if you put someone who’s very fragile with someone who’s determined to win, it’s going to lead to disaster”.

The Mail on Sunday has said that the Italian star was confronted by the bosses of the Saturday night dance show last week and his contract was terminated. The BBC confirmed in a statement that Graziano was no longer part of the line up. An insider from the show stated: “Graziano had to go. It has been awful.” In a statement confirming Graziano’s exit, the BBC said: ““We can confirm that Graziano Di Prima is no longer a part of the line-up of professional dancers for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. While we would never comment on individual cases, it is well-known that the BBC has established and robust duty of care procedures, and if issues are raised we will always take them seriously and act swiftly as appropriate.”

Since then, Graziano has expressed serious regret leading to his exit. In a jaw-dropping statement released on Saturday, 13 July, the Italian pro dancer admitted: “My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime”. Posting on Instagram, Graziano said to his fans: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly. While respecting the BBC HR process, I acknowledge it’s only right for the sake of the show that I step away.” He follows in the footsteps of fellow professional Giovanni Pernice, who also left the long-standing series amidst allegations related to misconduct during practice sessions. Both dancers have strongly refuted the claims against them.

Graziano, a Strictly Come Dancing regular since 2018, was partnered with Love Island’s Zara last year, but they were sent packing in week six. Previously, he danced with Loose Women’s Judi Love and reached the quarter-final with actor Kym Marsh in 2022. His dismissal has added to the drama at Strictly, which is considered the BBC’s flagship show, pulling in over ten million viewers.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
