Privacy NoticeTV chef and Top Chef Masters star Naomi Pomeroy has died at the age of 49. It’s being reported that the cookbook author lost her life following a river accident with her family. The TV personality, who took part in the hit Bravo competition, is understood to have been inner tubing with her husband, Kyle Linden Webster, and an unnamed friend in Oregon over the weekend when the fatal incident occurred. It’s reported that the chef was tied to her husband and friend while they were tubing when all three of them struck a tree in the water and Naomi was thrown underwater. Multiple outlets report their flotilla flipped over in ‘murky, fast-moving’ currents on the Willamette River. Her husband and their friend are reported to be alive after resurfacing from the water. Tragically, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her body was recovered from the water close to Corvallis around 8:25 pm Saturday.

Gary Okazaki, a fan of the star’s old restaurant Beast which offered live viewings of her in the open kitchen, spoke to an American TV outlet KOIN6 about how she was ‘a rock star chef’. He said: “When they write the history of the Portland culinary scene, she’s going to have her own chapter. It was her personality, the cult of personality of Naomi. Just the magnetism. When she was around, you could feel it,” Okazaki added. “Diners flocked to Beast, and at one point it was considered maybe the best restaurant in Portland.” Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer, who worked with Naomi to support restaurants struggling to stay open in the COVID pandemic, also paid tribute. He said: “What a loss. Naomi was not just a fabulous chef and entrepreneur, but an amazing human being. Her impact went far beyond Portland, helping establish our leadership and reputation for food excellence. She will be greatly missed.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK! MagazineFacebookTwitterCommentMore OnIn the News
