Privacy Notice Former model Lisa Snowdon slammed skinny jeans during a fashion segment of This Morning that left viewers cringing because Alison Hammond was wearing them at the time. Lisa has taken to her Instagram to address the issue, stating she’s ‘fuming’ at how her comments were misconstrued. Talking to viewers about the ‘ultimate summer trousers’ on Tuesday 16 July, Lisa issued a warning to anyone wearing skinny jeans. A willing model, called Heather, showed off her outfit during the show to which Alison said: “Oh look at this, this is so nice.” Lisa then began by saying: “Heather, like so many of us girls, like the idea of a white jean. But oh my gosh they’re so tricky to wear. The right fit, the right shape.” She then warned: “Stay away from the skinny jeans, who looks good in a skinny jean except for Elizabeth Hurley?”. Looking downcast, Alison told her co-star Dermot O’Leary: “Oh, I do like a skinny jean.” Lisa retorted: “Yeah but it just shows lumps and bumps that aren’t there.”

Some viewers took to social media during the uncomfortable moment. One said: “I only wear a skinny jean and then she says no one looks good in them thanks Lisa.” Another pointed out: “Nobody looks good in a skinny jean” erm isn’t Alison wearing skinny jeans Lis?”. A third wrote: “Stay away from skinny jeans” whilst Alison is sat there wearing them.”
Dermot and Alison presented a Tuesday episode of This Morning
Upon seeing the comments online, Lisa took to her Instagram story to issue a video explanation, in which she wrote “fuming” in the caption. “Today we were doing a statement on summer slacks on This Morning and I was talking about a model who came out wearing white jeans and I said ‘Heather, like so many women likes to wear white jeans,'” Lisa began to explain before saying she also loves skinny jeans and wears them all the time. The star then went on to clarify that she said to stay away from ‘white skinny jeans’ which show lumps and bumps that aren’t there. “Only Elizabeth Hurley can wear them, because that’s her vibe, but they don’t flatter most of us right?” the star continued on her story. “So I said if you’re going to wear white jeans go for these fit and flares, fit you round the bottom, fit you round the tummy and then they kind of fit out and they’re a little bit more wide. And it’s been taken out of context and people were saying that I made Alison uncomfortable. Alison is a friend of mine and she always looks f******g great.”

On a separate story, the star continued: “Little bit annoyed, I would never want anybody to feel uncomfortable. You know I’m 52 years old, I’m all about women supporting women. I’m not sizeist, I’m not ageist, I’m all inclusive all the time. “I was simply just giving advice when it comes to white jeans which are a tricky item to wear, especially when they’re skinny.” Lisa then went on to clarify again that she ‘loves a skinny jean’ and told people to ‘never stop wearing them’. “Wear what ever jeans look good on you. White [skinny] jeans, just beware because they look a little bit unflattering. The star then concluded: “Just a little bit insulted that it was misconstrued and people obviously didn’t hear what I was saying. It’s just hurtful, it’s really hurtful that people would think I would try and be hurtful because it’s not my style.” In other This Morning news, it had also recently been announced that Dermot has landed another television gig, but not with ITV.

The presenter will head up a show with U&Dave (formerly known as Dave) with comedian Katherine Ryan. The show, titled Silence is Golden, will give its studio audience £250,000 at the start of each episode which they get to keep if they can remain silent. U&Dave teases: “With every audience member mic’ed up, all hell breaks loose as a green room of 30 acts, led by three returning comedian captains, headed up by Katherine Ryan, wage war on the audience, with every sound forced out of them bringing the total prize money down.” Announcing his new presenting gig, Dermot said: “I’m so looking forward to Silence is Golden. When a show like this falls into your lap, you can’t quite believe your luck.” He added: “Looking forward to having lots of fun with the audience, our comedians and assorted cast of regulars, all trying to make the audience laugh, gasp and giggle.” Dermot is still expected to remain on This Morning on Fridays as it’s not the first time he’s had other commitments. He announced earlier this year that he would be presenting new ITV show Dermot’s Taste of Ireland – a travel series where he tests out Ireland’s best kept delicious secrets.
