Privacy NoticeKate Garraway’s dad was reportedly rushed to hospital just moments after Good Morning Britain wrapped on Tuesday. The family are said to have had a ‘terrible scare’ and the TV presenter raced to be by her mum and dad’s side. The 57 year old has been caring for her father, who had a suspected stroke and heart attack. It’s reported that she learned he’d collapsed at home just minutes after the morning show wrapped up earlier this week – her parents and brother were all in Cornwall when it happened. “It was incredibly frightening as he was found unconscious and immediately taken to hospital,” an insider revealed to The Sun. “Kate rushed to be by his and her mum’s side minutes after GMB finished on air. It seems likely that he’s had a stroke and possibly a heart attack as well – doctors are still doing tests.”

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway sparks concern as she reveals ‘rabid’ infection
“He remains in hospital and is currently stable but, understandably, it’s given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover.” They added that Kate was already scheduled to be off work for a few weeks so she could be with her dad during his recovery. The source also told The Sun that it’s crucial for the presenter to have a “normal summer break” after a tough year. OK! has contacted Kate’s representatives for comment. The ITV host tragically suffered the loss of her husband Derek Draper earlier this year. Kate admitted that she was barely holding it together after his death on 3 January following a heartbreaking battle with long Covid since contracting the disease in 2020. The former political advisor and author fought valiantly against the severe effects of the virus for over three years, leading to major organ damage. Kate, who welcomed two children, Darcey and Billy, with Derek during their 19-year love-filled marriage, recently opened up about her grief at a charity event.

I haven’t actually been out that much. So it’s nice to come out tonight. Derek passed away so recently, so it’s just one step at a time.” Bravely, Kate said she is doing her best to savour life as she approaches her sixties. Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: “I really can’t believe I’m hurtling towards 60. I’m very much celebrating life now. Whatever the age.” Apart from continuing with her popular stint on Good Morning Britain and delivering soul-soothing tunes on Smooth Radio, she is also excited about hosting the new series of Life Stories on ITV. The TV presenter added a bit of mystery in the mix and teased: “I’m very excited. There are so many people I’d love to have on the show. But the current lineup is a secret so you will have to wait and see.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
