Privacy NoticeActors Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson joined BBC presenters Anita Rani and Roman Kemp on The One Show today to talk about their new Sky Original series Mr Bigstuff. However, Ryan quickly received a warning about using certain language before the watershed from Anita, thanks to a two-word comment she was worried might have been a bit rude. Ryan, best known for Brassic and Plebs, authors and stars in Mr Bigstuff beside Eastenders legend Danny, who is making his TV comedy debut. The show follows “estranged brothers, Glen and Lee, who try to patch up a sibling rivalry that may well be beyond repair”. On The One Show, Ryan explained how – as well as complicated family dynamics – the show also focuses on the world of carpet sales. This led to a slight misunderstanding, as he said: “My character works in a carpet shop and, as a consequence of that, my algorithm is coming up with a lot of rug tufting.”

The remark made Anita and Roman nervous
A couple of viewers at home were tickled by the interaction, with one writing on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter: “Anita has just had to remind both Ryan & Danny of the time and day [laughing emoji].” (sic) The rest of Sky’s synopsis for Mr Bigstuff reads: “The six-part comedy explores broken families, fragile masculinity and carpet sales. It tells the story of two estranged brothers; Glen a nervy perfectionist striving to live the suburban ideal and Lee an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and biscuit tin full of his Dad’s ashes. “Glen and his fiancée share a perfect, perfectly mundane life together. Sure, Glen’s got crippling erectile dysfunction and Kirsty has a secret shoplifting habit, but they’re happy. “That is until Lee comes crashing into their lives, whilst on the run from a past that’s quickly catching up with him. The trio are forced together: a perfectionist, a fantasist and an anarchist all living under the same roof in an Essex cul-de-sac. “It’s not long before their ‘perfect’ lives start to unravel faster than a cheap carpet.” Mr Bigstuff aired earlier this week on Sky Max and NOW on July, 17, 2024. The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
