Privacy NoticeFollowing the news of Graziano Di Prima’s shocking sacking from Strictly Come Dancing after five years on the show, his family are said to be “very concerned” about the dancer. According to the MailOnline, the 30 year old’s nearest and dearest are “rallying round him in his time of need” as he flew to Italy in order to be with his mum and wife. His cousin Pina told the publication from his hometown of Riesi in Sicily the he is being closely monitored by his mother Giovanna and wife Giada. She said: “We are very concerned about him. We were informed he was spending the summer here and see his family. But then we heard this terrible news [about his sacking]. “I have read the stories, but I don’t believe all the things that have been written about Graziano. I cannot imagine it’s all true because I know him so well. ‘He’s a very respectful man, especially in the way he behaves towards women. It’s true of all our family, we are very respectful.”

OK! has contacted Graziano’s reps for comment. Pina also explained that the news has shocked their family as it’s out of character for Graziano, who is thought to be staying in a remote family farmhouse surrounded by vineyards. Just days ago, a spokesperson for the former Strictly star confirmed Graziano kicked celebrity partner Zara McDermott during rehearsals last year. It comes after it was confirmed that Graziano has been axed from the BBC show. “There is never a time when kicking, or any sense of that is right,” Mark Borkowski told BBC News. “And he knows that. He knows he’s made a mistake. He apologised at the time.”

Graziano believed that the matter had been resolved, but video footage of the incident is believed to have been brought to the attention of the BBC last week. The dancer, 30, was then axed from the show. The spokesperson said Graziano accepted that he had “crossed the line”, however the dancer denied reports that he spat on Zara. His spokesperson continued to say that Graziano “does remember that he was pushing [McDermott] quite hard” in training on the day in question. He added: “But he doesn’t recognise some of the issues surrounding it”, referring to recent reports. “The descriptions of what is being commented online, and how he remembers it, are not aligned,” he said. Following the news that Graziano had been dismissed from Strictly for alleged “gross misconduct,” Zara, 27, released a lengthy statement on Tuesday 16 July to her fans. While she said that her time on the show was something she had always dreamed of, she also commented on her experience in the training room with Graziano.

Her statement said, in part: “I felt it was right that I post something regarding the recent media reports. Strictly is one of the most magical shows on TV and one that I dreamt of being on since I was a little girl. When I was invited to be a contestant on the show it really was a childhood dream come true.” “I fully understood the level of commitment and hard work that Strictly was going to be and I dedicated everything to it. I am a resilient person and I was fully prepared to put in whatever it took. And so much of my Strictly experience was everything I could have dreamt of. The entire production team and everyone behind the scenes as well as my fellow contestants were so amazing to work with. “However, my experience inside the training room was very different. Reports have been made about my treatment on the show and there were witnesses to some events, as well as videos of particular incidents which are incredibly distressing to watch.” She continued: “I have wrestled with the fear of opening up – I was scared about public backlash, I was scared about my future, I was scared of victim shaming. But after a lot of conversations with those I love, I’ve gained the strength to face these fears, and when I was asked to speak to the BBC, I spoke candidly about my time on the show. “The culture within our society makes it difficult for people to speak up, especially in a world where social media opinions and voices are so loud. This is something I’ve seen through working with countless women on my documentaries.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
