Privacy NoticeA female Strictly dancer is at the centre of a “bullying” scandal following accusations from an ex-partner who alleges she would scream in his face during fits of anger. The male celebrity, who is well-known to the public, is expected to say that their daily disputes were intense and that she would lose her temper off camera whenever he struggled with dance routines. He is said to plan to submit his complaint to the prestigious legal firm Carter Ruck by Sunday 21 July, according to the Mirror. While it’s believed there are no claims of physical abuse, the complaint does reportedly condemn senior BBC figures for not offering him adequate support during or after his stint on the show. This controversy comes as another significant blow to the BBC, which is already embroiled in efforts to protect the integrity of its beloved programme. A source said: “The man in question felt very much victimised by the behaviour of his Strictly partner.

“He alleges that on several occasions she flew into a real fury when he couldn’t get the steps right, and on one occasion screamed full in his face. They rowed every single day. He was left upset, struggling to sleep, and feeling isolated in the process.” The man in question is also said to have felt “totally unsupported by Strictly” and was “not contacted again” after leaving the show. A BBC spokesperson told OK!: “We will not be commenting on individuals or engaging in speculation. However, as we have said previously we will always listen if people want to make us aware of something or raise it with us directly and we have appropriate procedures and processes in place to manage this.” Amanda Abbington, 50, is among at least three ex-contestants who have approached Carter Ruck with allegations of misconduct. Amanda claimed she developed PTSD after being paired up with pro Giovanni Pernice, 33. The actress opened up about how she was left “bruised” following a training session where Giovanni accidentally stepped on her foot. Investigations into serious misconduct allegations against Giovanni, who left the programme in May and denies any claims, are ongoing.

Last week saw professional dancer Graziano Di Prima get the boot over a video showing him kicking partner Zara McDermott. He has since offered his apologies for his “mistake.” An internal investigation has been initiated by the BBC, and new measures have been put in place for future series of the show. There will be two dedicated welfare producers, one for celebrity contestants and one for professional dancers, and a chaperone present at every training session and rehearsal. A BBC spokesperson said: “We will always listen if people want to make us aware of something or raise it with us. The BBC and BBC Studios take duty of care extremely seriously.” Strictly Come Dancing’s veteran judge, Craig Revel Horwood was left reeling by the allegations and said: “I’m just finding out, like everybody else, through the press.” However, he reassured fans about the beloved dance show’s durability, describing Strictly as a programme “that belongs in the people’s hearts”, and noting the joy of watching contestants “work hard and move up.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
