Privacy NoticeRomesh Ranganathan, the host of The Weakest Link, is reportedly set to front a reboot of the classic kids show Art Attack. The original programme, which ran from 1990 to 2007, was hosted by artist Neil Buchanan. Now, Romesh’s production company Ranga Bee is planning to create a “modern-day interpretation” of the iconic show. A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Like millions of Brits who grew up in the Nineties and Noughties, Romesh was no doubt a fan of the show.” They added that this new version is likely to air on a major children’s network, possibly Children’s BBC (CBBC). Filming for the reboot is expected to start in August. The original show was famous for a character called The Head, a puppet stone bust who would recap the steps viewers needed to follow to create the art in each episode. He would then attempt the art work himself, usually with comical results. In 2011, Disney revived the series on the Disney Junior channel with presenter Jassa Ahluwalia, and The Head was replaced by a talking palm tree called Vincent Van Coconut. Last week it was announced that Romesh will be presenting a new ITV celebrity gameshow with his mother, Shanthi. The comedian, aged 46, will host Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening, where celebrities team up with their family members to win money for their chosen charity. Speaking about the new series, Romesh said: “I am really grateful ITV has given me the chance to host this brand new series.” He jokingly added, “I am less grateful, they also gave the chance to my mother.” Joining him and his mum on the show will be This Morning host Alison Hammond and her son Aidan.
