Privacy NoticeTV favourite Davina McCall has opened up about the emotional impact of “empty nest syndrome” after her daughter flew the coop, revealing she “cried all the way home” following the big move. The 57 year old presenter and mum-of-three, who shares her brood with ex-husband Matthew Robertson, has been navigating the new family dynamic as her kids spread their wings. Her eldest, Holly, 22, is a recent uni grad, while Tilly, 21, has ventured off to Sydney, leaving her youngest, Chester, 17, as the sole sibling at home. Davina got candid about the tearful journey back from Manchester after helping her firstborn settle in, despite the city being just “two hours away,” by train. In her heartfelt confession to The Times Magazine, she penned: “I wasn’t worried about empty nest syndrome until I drove my daughter to Manchester recently. We built IKEA furniture all day, settled her in, and then I cried all the way home.” She quipped about the distance, saying, “It’s only two hours on the train, for crying out loud.”

With Chester now the only child at home, Davina admits he’s pretty independent, needing her mostly for “the odd lift here and there”. As a result, she’s ramping up her work days but still aims for that all-important life balance, as she shared: “My son is the only kid still at home now and he doesn’t need me, apart from the odd lift here and there, so I’m working a few more days in the week. I still want balance though.” Davina is gearing up to launch her exciting new podcast, ‘Begin Again,’ where she’ll dish out wisdom on reviling in midlife. She’s set to chat with experts and spill some of her personal stories too. Not one to slow down, Davina is the hostess with the mostest on ITV’s My Mum, Your Dad dating show, a detective judge unmasking celebs on The Masked Singer, and brings families together on ITV’s heartwarming Long Lost Family. She’s absolutely buzzing about her new podcast, saying, “I am loving recording Begin Again and I can’t wait for you to hear it. I love it so much I have literally been running to work. I have hand-picked guests who can help us move into this next phase of our lives and help us make it our best act yet.” Also, expressing her passion for redefining midlife, Davina explains, “I’ve always felt that calling midlife our ‘second spring’ is such a lovely sentiment. A time when we can say what we like, do what we like, wear what we like… basically be free of everything that has held us back… I want us to be confident, healthy, and emotionally robust enough to stride into this moment in our lives and really enjoy it. Begin Again is going to help make that happen for you… and me.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
