Privacy Notice It was a dark day on Albert Square in tonight’s episode of EastEnders, with viewers witnessing Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) kill his wife Debbie, who had been in a coma, in a bid to fix his money problems with new partner Sonia (Natalie Cassidy). While Reiss’ murderous streak came as a shock to many viewers, others couldn’t help but comment on the performance of Jenny Meier – who plays Debbie – which gripped many fans despite the fact that she hasn’t had any lines since joining the soap last year. Jenny was introduced in May 2023, when Reiss revealed to Sonia that he was already married to Debbie but that she had been in a coma since suffering a stroke. During the Thursday 25 July episode, fans took to X to praise Jenny, with many saying that she deserved awards for her stint on the soap. One viewer wrote: “The actress who played Debbie needs to win awards. She never spoke a word, yet she had the nation in a chokehold with her stunning skincare routine and sly smile.

Earlier this week, EastEnders fans were left gobsmacked when they realised that Jonny Freeman – who plays Reiss – looks completely different to his Queen Vic counterpart outside of filming.
