Privacy NoticeThe One Direction community is in mourning after the devastating news that Liam Payne tragically died following a 45ft fall from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina last week. While it’s unlikely the world will ever know the full details of what happened in the moments before the 31-year-old star’s death, Argentinian authorities have been using witnesses to reconstruct what happened at the luxury Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires last Wednesday. A post-mortem has revealed that Liam died of “internal and external haemorrhage” and multiple traumas as a result of the fall, according to Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No 16. Prosecutor Marcelo Roma has now ordered further tests, including histopathological, biochemical, and toxicological studies to rule out the possibility of drug and alcohol involvement, reports The Mirror.

The results of the tests however are expected to take up to two weeks to collate, so the death will continue to be ruled as “inconclusive” until they’re in. Authorities also said they questioned five witnesses in order to reconstruct what happened at the hotel and better understand his death. According to some reports, Liam spent time with Aldana Serrano, 31, and Lucila Goitea, 27, at the Beunos Aires hotel on the night of his death and the pair were later questioned by local police. The Manchester Evening News reports that Lucile and Aldana spent time with Liam in his room – number 310 – before his tragic fall and were therefore among the last people to see the One Direction star alive. Earlier today (Monday, October 21) it was claimed that Liam’s tests for a US visa – tests which are notoriously stringent – which were performed a few weeks before his death came back “completely clean”.

In a poignant tribute, Liam’s father Geoff was seen reading touching messages left by fans at a candlelit vigil outside the hotel where his son, who shares a child with singer Cheryl, died. Geoff flew to Argentina to formally identify his son’s body and oversee its return to their home country. The star’s funeral is set to be held next month, and there are hopes that his body will be repatriated this week so he can be “back where he belongs” with his loved ones, as Geoff stays steadfastly by his side, reports the Mirror. A source claimed: “Liam’s loved ones just want him home, back where he belongs among his family. As they await the pathologist to finish their tests, behind the scenes, they have been tackling the logistics about how best to get his body back to the UK. “There are no direct commercial flights between Buenos Aires and London, but naturally, they want the flight to have the least stops and interruptions possible. But Geoff is determined to accompany his son home.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
