Privacy NoticeEmmerdale fans have confessed they’ve ‘given up’ on the ITV soap in the aftermath of Belle Dingle’s escape from Tom King’s clutches at the holiday cottage. Viewers were on the edge of their seats during the week as Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) were left stunned as they discovered the holiday cottage in Wales, where Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom (James Chase), had been staying, in a state of disarray with blood smeared on the walls. A flashback episode that aired on Wednesday night (July 24) shed light on the harrowing events that transpired during their getaway, revealing the extent of Tom’s cruelty towards Belle.

From mistreating their dog Piper to constantly belittling Belle, Tom made it abundantly clear that they wouldn’t be returning to Emmerdale after he secured a job at a local veterinary clinic in the secluded Welsh village. However after the ordeal, Charity finds Tom, who admits Belle isn’t there and says: “She left me”. He later went on to lie to Charity and Cain that Belle hasn’t been taking her medication, saying that he found her pills hidden underneath her bed. He also told them that Belle had a termination and didn’t suffer a miscarriage. Fans are now livid that Belle will be painted as the villain as one viewer commented: “So now everyone will believe Tom, Bell will still be living in misery cos of his evil presence”.

On social media, another wrote: “Tom you evil scum lying through his teeth”. A third said: “Emmerdale is winding me up I just want them to find out about Tom now”. Another penned: “What is the point of asking Tom what happened?! Are Cain and Charity off their heads?! Haven’t they seen enough psychos in the village to learn their lesson?! It’s because he is a “respectable” Vet isn’t it?!”. A fifth added: “I’m a soap addict all but emmerdale which I’ve given up on”.

Producer of the show, Laura Shaw previously hinted that the storyline would be an ongoing one. Laura said: “We said right from the beginning that we wanted to tell this story as truthfully authentically as we can. “And let’s face it, people who are subject to domestic abuse – this isn’t something that’s over in a couple of weeks. You can expect this storyline to run until the end of this year.”
Fans fear locals will side with Tom over Belle, again
Laura continued: “But we will see people start to look a bit more quizzically and wonder what’s going on and question certain things that they’re seeing. “However it’s very difficult as an outsider who’s looking in to kind of even broach that and ask questions. So whilst we might see people picking up on it, I’m not sure that we’re going to see anybody putting the whole picture together.” Charity has voiced her concerns over Belle and has compared Tom to her abuser Bails (Rocky Marshall).
