Privacy NoticeChaos ensued on This Morning when the cast from the Fawlty Towers stage show unexpectedly stormed the set, causing quite the stir on the ITV show. Presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were caught off guard at the start of the episode on Friday 26 July as they were about to tease the day’s lineup, only to be interrupted by an unplanned cameo. The live broadcast quickly turned into a farce as the Fawlty Towers actors burst in, throwing Alison and Dermot’s introduction into turmoil. During the commotion, something was accidentally broken, leading to a shocked exclamation from host Alison who exclaimed: “They broke it!” Not everyone was amused by this impromptu Fawlty takeover, however, with some viewers taking to social media to air their grievances. One disgruntled viewer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment: “Faulty Towers wasn’t funny 50 years ago #ThisMorning,” reports the Express. Another viewer expressed their lack of amusement: “Not finding anything about this remotely funny.” A third shared their disappointment: “Oh no…. it’s not going to be a slap-stick show is it? Like end of term silliness.” Sharing similar feelings, another viewer pleaded: “Please stop that immediately.” Sign up to OK’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Later in the show, Alison and Dermot chatted to legendary Fawlty Towers TV star John Cleese, who has teamed up with his daughter Camilla to bring the iconic seventies series to the stage, and Just Good Friends and EastEnders star Paul Nicholas, who will be starring as the bumbling old Major. Prior to the onset of chaos in the studio, Alison announced that it would be her “last day” on the show before she takes a break for summer, as she is planning to enjoy “four weeks and four days” off. Her co-host Dermot O’Leary announced the news with a hint of sadness on Thursday 25 July, telling viewers, “It’s quite sad that tomorrow is going to be our last show for some time.”

Confirming her upcoming holiday, Alison said, “I know, I know, my last day. I’m going on holiday bubs, it’s time.” Always one for a laugh, she added, “Alison needs a break” – prompting a cheeky response from Dermot who agreed, “We all need a break.” The witty presenter ended with a light-hearted jab at her critics: “Even YOU need a break from me.” This statement sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with tweets ranging from worried questions like “Is Alison leaving for good?” to comments acknowledging her departure: “It’s Alison’s last day on #ThisMorning before she goes on a break!”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
