Privacy NoticeDario G, nineties pop legend know for his hit song Sunchyme, has provided fans with an update on his health after revealing he was diagnosed with cancer. The singer, who’s also known as Paul Spencer, hit it big 26 years ago when his 1997 hit reached number number on the UK Singles, and has continued to perform his DJ set all over the world ever since. However, heartbreakingly, the 52 year old shared his diagnosis on Twitter (X) in June this year, telling followers at the time he was “trying to stay positive”. Paul has since been battling stage four rectal cancer and wrote to fans: “Hard to write this. I’ve just found out that I’ve got stage 4 rectal cancer and a shadow on my liver. That’s damn hard to read too I’m sure. “Gonna give it my best shot though. Stay positive, cos I am. Always. Seeing the doctors on Friday to discuss the next steps.”

Now, in an update on his health, the star spoke to The Mirror and said he’s been doing “really well” as he undergoes chemotherapy. He said: “I’m doing really, really well. The chemo and the medication arrested and stopped the pain and then I think the chemo starts to take an effect. I think in a month’s time I’ll be having another scan so that’ll be around Christmas time.

“So yeah, my Christmas present is a photoshoot of another CT scan or MRI scan. I had one done [recently] on my brain as well because little problems appeared because of the chemo.” The singer also discussed another side effect and added that his sense of taste had change and that he’d developed an issue with his eye.” Paul, who was a member of the band Dario G – which used the same name as his stage one – then went on to to discuss his healthy mindset on not “wasting life”.

He said: “Don’t complain about this or that. Our hearts are beating let’s do something with that time.” Fans will no doubt remember Dario G’s iconic video for Sunchyme, which featured dancers in incredible safari costumes and makeup.
