Liam Payne’s dad Geoff visited tributes laid for his son in Buenos Aires The body of Liam Payne may not be returned to his heartbroken family for weeks, delaying his final farewell in the UK. The former One Direction member died aged 31 after falling from the third floor of his Buenos Aires hotel on Wednesday. In a bid to bring their beloved son home, Liam’s distraught father is said to be urgently working towards repatriating his body to the UK. However, insiders close to the case have allegedly informed Argentine newspaper Clarin that the singer’s remains are expected to stay in Argentina “between 10 and 15 days” while authorities await crucial test outcomes. Representatives from the British Embassy have reportedly stated: “We are supporting Liam Payne’s family and are in contact with local authorities.”
It is said that Liam’s body is to stay another 10 – 15 days for more tests
The investigation, led by Prosecutor Marcelo Roma, hinges on the pending toxicological analysis following the initial autopsy report. Initial suspicions suggest the star may have been under the influence of substances, with witness accounts at the hotel and police findings pointing towards possible drug and alcohol use. ]Consequently, Prosecutor Marcelo has ordered a series of tests including histopathological, biochemical, and toxicological examinations, which were also carried out post-mortem. Given that these results could take up to two weeks, the release of Liam’s body to his family is contingent upon the conclusive autopsy findings. Following the devastating incident, Liam’s family members made an urgent journey to South America on Wednesday night, shortly after receiving the harrowing news. In a heart-wrenching scene captured at the Casa Sur hotel on Friday, Geoff Payne was observed solemnly inspecting heartfelt tributes to his son. Geoff, wearing a sombre dark suit and clasping his hands, was surrounded by police and security as throngs of fans and journalists looked on. He was seen with tears in his eyes as he acknowledged Liam’s supporters while he surveying the emotional scene.
