Privacy NoticeThe Love Island final is just around the corner and the finalists have started to be sent out on their last dates. Each year, ITV bosses pull out all of the stops for the Islanders’ final liaisons, from incredible boat trips to private concerts. We’ve seen the likes of Jamie Jewitt and Camilla Thurlow recreate La La Land, while Faye Winter and Teddy Soares enjoyed drinks in a private pool covered in rose petals. There’s been candle-lit dinner dates as well as quirky picnics – not forgetting Ekin-Su Culculogu and Davide Sanclimenti being serenaded by Alfie Boe in a castle. But, can these final dates determined the Islanders’ fate when it comes to winning the ITV2 show? Ending up on a date which isn’t typically something an Islander would do could cause their chances of winning Love Island to plummet, it seems. Here, OK! takes a look into whether the couples’ last Love Island dates could seal their fate, with the help of relationship expert and founder of the personality type dating app So Syncd, Louella Alderson.

A boat trip is a firm favourite with the Love Island producers, with at least one couple usually being sent out on an excursion at sea in the run up to the final. However, we know not everyone enjoys being out at sea. Could the location of the final dates impact the conclusion of Love Island? Relationship expert Louella seems to think so. “The final date location for each could play a role in influencing the outcome of Love Island. Ultimately, if a couple is on a date where they feel comfortable and their connection is able to thrive, it could strengthen their bond and solidify their chances of winning. An islander might love a romantic dinner in the mountains, while another might prefer a more adventurous date like surfing or hiking,” she exclusively told OK!. This could explain why the Love Island boat dates appear to be ‘cursed’. The majority of the couples who went on boat trips for their final date split after the show finished, with one couple – Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish – even splitting while out at sea.

Each couple is usually sent to a different location for the final date. Over the years, Islanders have been sent to ballrooms, remote beaches, woodland areas, castles and more. This can be a positive thing for the finalists, Louella noted. She explained: “It’s helpful to the couples if the final dates cater to each couple’s individual preferences and help them showcase their compatibility and chemistry so the public can really get a feel for their relationship. Different date locations can allow individuals and couples to either flourish or wane, depending on whether they are suited to their personalities.” However, being sent on a date which isn’t your usual type of activity or location could actually hinder your chances of taking home the £50,000 Love Island prize fund.
Which could could be this year’s Love Island winners? Maybe Ayo and Jess?
Louella told us: “If the final date was in a location or doing an activity that one person in the couple strongly dislikes, it could potentially create tension and negatively impact their chances of winning. For example, if someone hates the water or can’t swim, being on a boat may not be the ideal date for them. “In this situation, they might be nervous and on edge, which means they might struggle to be present. This could impact their ability to be themselves and let their true feelings for their partner shine through, potentially causing them to lose out in the competition.” The relationship expert has also revealed which of this year’s final couples – Joey and Jessy, Mimii and Josh, Matilda and Sean, Ciaran and Nicole, Ayo and Jess – have the best chance of winning Love Island. While some couples are more deserving than others, it eventually comes down to nothing more mystic than the public’s perception of the contestants and their connections.

“Nicole and Ciaran deserve to win Love Island because of their strong connection and genuine compatibility. They have consistently been a fan-favourite couple since the beginning, with both individuals being genuine and authentic in their feelings for each other,” Louella told OK!. She added: “It’s unusual for a couple to be together from the start and make it all the way to the end, but Nicole and Ciaran have shown that they are truly meant to be together. It also feels like they want the same thing from life outside the villa. While lots of people go on Love Island for fame and want to party afterward, it sounds as if Nicole and Ciaran want a more low-key life together, going for dog walks and spending time with each other’s families, proving that they are truly in it for the right reasons.” Find So Syncd, the personality type dating app, in app storesStory SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
