Privacy NoticeSusannah Constantine has opened up about her health, revealing that she often ponders over her own mortality after a life-saving operation last year. The fashion guru and TV personality, known for her stint on the iconic show ‘What Not To Wear’, had a close call with arteriovenous fistula, which required urgent medical attention. The condition involves an abnormal connection between arteries and veins and can lead to serious complications. Speaking candidly on Loose Women on Friday, 5 April, the 61-year-old shared that although she’s feeling much better now, the experience has made her more aware of her own mortality, especially in the mornings. She also expressed how the ordeal has shifted her outlook on life, making her appreciate the simplicity and joy in being a wife, mother, and housewife who also works.

During her appearance, Susannah said: “I feel fine. I mean, I did have this mental, this sort of weird neurological disorder and it was life threatening, but you just kind of think, well at my age anyway, you just take these things on board. “I think that is one of the huge benefits of getting older.” “You’re less fearful in some ways and although I do think about my mortality most mornings when I wake up, I’m cool about it. “I’m in a really happy place. Life is so simple and I’m essentially, I’m primarily a wife and a mother, a housewife who happens to work and that’s exactly how I like it.”

Last month, Susannah candidly spoke about her terrifying experience of undergoing risky surgery, after doctors warned her about the potential of paralysis or a brain haemorrhage should she not have the surgery, reports the Mirror. Continuing the story of her medical journey, she told OK! magazine earlier this year: “They said ‘It’s Hobson’s Choice, if you don’t have the operation, you’ve got a one in three chance of having a brain haemorrhage, being paralysed or having a stroke. “If you do have surgery, you’ve got a one in 10 chance of these same things happening during the operation’.”

Last year, Susannah disclosed her hospital dash to her followers and posted a telling picture on social media as she received medical attention. The photo showed her arm with an IV line inserted while she rested in a hospital bed. Captioning the image, she penned: “Withered arm turned out to be a symptom of something a bit more serious. “All sorted now thanks to our ailing but still magnificent NHS where we are lucky enough to have some of the most gifted doctors (and in this case neurosurgeons) in the world. @brainandspine. Forever grateful.” Follow OK! on Threads here: https://www.threads.net/@ok_magStory SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
