Privacy Notice Loose Women Janet Street-Porter has addressed recent rumours that she is one of the famous faces taking to the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor. The BBC hit dance competition is set to return to our TV screens this autumn and the official line-up remains unknown however that hasn’t stopped many guessing which stars may appear on the show. Among the rumoured stars is Loose Women panellist Janet, 77. However during Tuesday’s episode of the ITV hit daytime show Janette spoke out for the first time and revealed if viewers will see her in the ballroom. Introducing the show, Sunetra Sarker said: “Hello and welcome to your Tuesday’s Loose women. We are keeping it short and sweet today because of the races so it’s only a 30 minute show.” Strictly Come Dancing’s iconic theme tune started to play as he continued: “But we are starting with some really exciting news. Janet is joining Strictly or is she?” The camera panned over Janet, who had a straight face and she confirmed: “No.”

Everyone burst out laughing as she continued: “I was on my way to the hospital this morning to have a pain killer injection on my hip because I’ve just been told that I have to have a hip replacement.” Touching on her conversation with Ruth Langsford, who has taken a break from Loose Women, she said: “What comes up on my phone a text from Ruth saying ‘oh my God, I am so excited that you’re doing Strictly, I’m so excited it has made my day’”. She added: “And I just went back ‘sorry, not true.’ unless there’s a competition called Strictly Arm Dancing.” Despite the ongoing scandal surrounding professional dancers Giovanni Penice and Graziano Di Prima recent misconduct claims, a new series of the BBC is still set to return.

Since it first launched in 2004, Strictly has gone on to grow in popularity with it being the most watched show on British TV after gaining millions of viewers every year. Last year fans saw former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach and her pro partner Vito Coppola take home the famous Glitterball trophy and it won’t be long until we see a new batch of famous faces take to the floor. Among the other stars tipped to be appearing on the show are Hannah Waddingham and Nick Knowles as well as Blue’s Duncan James, Tracy Beaker Returns’ Kia Megg, Dame Laura Kenny, Outnumbered’s Tyger Drew-Honey and This morning’s Gyles Brandreth, among others.
