Privacy NoticeThe wife of renowned BBC racing commentator John Hunt and two of their daughters suffered a violent attack in their home. An inquest has now heard that Carol Hunt died from stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, while her daughters Hannah and Louise were fatally injured by crossbow bolts. Following the horrific incident earlier this month at their Bushey residence in Hertfordshire, the court learnt of a desperate text sent by Hannah for help, saying she had been “tied up” and urging an unidentified person to contact authorities, telling them the person responsible was still at the house. Hannah managed to call 999, reporting that she and her family members had been shot. She was able to give her location before the call disconnected.

When the emergency services arrived, they discovered Hannah grievously wounded but alive at the entrance of the house with a crossbow bolt painfully lodged in her chest, senior coroner Geoffrey Sullivan heard during the proceedings. The coroner adjourned the inquest to allow any criminal proceeding to take place. Kyle Clifford has since been detained under suspicion of the murders; however, police have yet to question him as they await medical confirmation of his fitness to undergo interrogation, reports the Manchester Evening News.

John Hunt, deeply shaken, along with his surviving daughter Amy, issued a statement expressing their immeasurable loss: “The devastation that we are experiencing cannot be put into words.” In an emotional message shared by his colleague Matt Chapman on Sky Sports Racing, John spoke highly of his “magnificently inspirational” eldest daughter. He said: “Notwithstanding the horrid evil that’s swept through our lives, wreaking devastation on an unimaginable scale, the counter to that has been the breathtaking messages of support, some of which are still to be read.” Continuing his emotional tribute, the TV star added: “Amy, my eldest daughter, has been magnificently inspirational with her control and support for me, which I am trying, trying so hard, to replicate.” “Every message has felt so important, the same as a reassuring hug. We know people are worried about us. We will get through this.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
