Privacy Notice After the Love Island final saw crowned Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan as winners, Maya Jama stole the spotlight with her encounter with Stormzy’s pal Omar Nyame. Swiftly becoming the talk of Twitter, Maya looked sensational in a chic black outfit chatting with audience favourite Omar. Despite their seemingly easy-going exchange, viewers picked up on an “awkward” undertone. It was only weeks after Maya ended things with Stormzy for the second time following their holiday romance in Greece last year, so the awkwardness might have made sense when she came face-to-face with his mate. Yet, Maya kept it light-hearted and even teased Omar about his revealing Instagram photos during the show, throwing some banter his way by asking: “There’s a lot of underwear situation going on, you’re naked on the gram quite often. Is that your new thirst trap technique?”. Omar didn’t miss a beat before responding: “Do you know what, at the end of the day my body’s good so I gotta show it.”

Tweets poured in with one fan joking: “Ik that was awkward for Maya and Omar LOL.” Another added to the commentary, saying: “Not Maya talking to Omar her ex-boyfriend’s friend [laughter emoji].” Someone else pondered: “Do you think it’s awks between Omar and Maya?”. While there were whispers of tension, others praised Maya’s top-notch professionalism, with a tweet applauding: “Omar and Maya acting like he’s not besties w/ her ex. true professionalism.”
Maya and Stormzy have parted ways

Earlier this month, the TV presenter revealed that her relationship with Stormzy had hit a dead end, admitting they’d spent the past year trying to “make it work.” The duo had been together for five years before their first split in 2019. Their breakup left fans gobsmacked, especially since just a week before the news broke, they seemed loved-up at The British Grand Prix, where Stormzy was performing. Not to mention, during that year’s Glastonbury, they looked besotted and she even backed his latest business project, a bar in Soho. In August of the previous year, whispers about them reuniting reached an all-time high after they were spotted together at All Points East festival in east London, over the bank holiday. The following week, sharp-eyed fans clocked that they had the same background in their holiday snaps, despite sharing the photos separately, while on a Greek getaway. But it was when paps caught them holding hands that their reunion was unofficially out in the open. In October of that year, Maya added fuel to the fire when she posted an Instagram story of the rapper picking her up from the airport post-Love Island filming. And the next month, they turned heads as they stepped out together at British Vogue’s Forces for Change party.
