Privacy NoticeGood Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway’s new family heartache is reported to have left her friends “seriously worried” about her. Thebreakfast TV star, 57, is currently on a break from the popular show, after her father Gordon was reportedly rushed to hospital following a suspected stroke and heart attack. Kate left immediately after a live broadcast of the show in July to rush to her father’s side. Later, a source shared that Kate’s dad was “stable” but his health problems had “given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover” and he is still under medical care.

The distressing news of Kate’s dad’s ill health comes after the loss of Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, back in January. Derek fell ill with coronavirus in March 2020, resulting in persistent damage to his organs. After a four year battle, he passed away just six months ago. While Kate and her family are still undoubtedly struggling with their grief over Derek, they now have the added concerns over Kate’s dad’s condition. However, the source added to OK!: “Luckily Kate is due to be off work for a few weeks anyway so she can divide her time between the hospital whilst simultaneously looking after [children] Darcey and Billy. “After the horrible, heartbreaking year they have had, it’s so important to Kate that they try and have a normal summer break.”

Now, with the presenter on “pre-arranged leave” from the show, reports are that her friends are said to be concerned for her. “Kate’s pals are seriously worried about her wellbeing,” a source told Bella Magazine. “Everyone just wishes Kate could have had a few years without more tragedy so soon after losing Derek. Kate is as stoic as ever. She really has been put through the mill she is determined to get through the other side.” Kate and her dad Gordron are very close, Kate often sharing pics of him on her social media. Gordon also celebrated with Kate on the day she was awarded an MBE last year. Kate was awarded the honour by Prince William for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.

At the time, the presenter had already filmed two documentaries about her Derek’s health battle, which began as coronavirus in 2020. In March, after his death, she ITV broadcast a final documentary about her husband’s journey titled Kate Garraway : Life After Derek. “It’s also a tribute to all of those who fight on to make every second of life count, whatever is thrown at them,” Kate said of the film at the time.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
