There have always been only four permanent flavours on the menu for quite some time – strawberry, vanilla, banana and chocolate – and while we’re happy with them, we’ll never turn down the chance to taste something new. One fast food fan shared her brilliant hack for unlocking a new flavour that is actually already on the menu, you just need to get creative with your ingredients!

Taking to TikTok user El revealed how she saved the pennies when she fancied a frozen or iced coffee. Instead of heading to Starbucks, Costa or Pret, she went to McDonald’s and bought a vanilla milkshake and an espresso coffee. “Thank us later #mcdonaldshack #fyp #milkshake #nespresso #coffee” she wrote as he video shows her sat in a car with the two drinks in her lap.

Pouring the espresso shot on top of the vanilla milkshake she then grabbed her straw and gave the concoction a brief stir. “This is a vanilla milkshake from McDonald’s and this is an espresso shot. Right and then you just mix it together and when you have a normal McDonald’s milkshake you know it’s really lumpy? This makes it a bit more juicy! Voila! A milkshake frappe!”

Combining the milkshake which is £1.69 for a medium or £1.99 for a large with the double espresso for 99p comes in at £2.68 or £2.98 which is cheaper than the starting price of Starbucks Frappucino. However, currently the fast food chain do have their own range of iced frappe’s in Mocha and Caramel flavours which are £2.29 for a small of £2.61 for medium sized. It seems you’ll get more value for money if you combine the two drinks, and even a McDonald’s employee agrees it’s a great idea.
