Privacy Notice Joey Essex is eyeing a move to the States and stepping back from reality TV in the wake of recent Love Island fall-out. The TOWIE star and Jessy Potts, who are loved up after meeting on ITV2’s Love Island, appeared on This Morning today, Thursday 1 August, after they were dumped from the villa just before the final. After he got some backlash following his stint on the show, presenter Josie Gibson quizzed him on his future plans: “Joey, is it true you’re quitting reality TV?”. He confessed: “I’m taking a huge break, you know, I feel like I’ve done every reality show possible now. I don’t think I really want to do Strictly, I’m just taking a break and I’ve got some opportunities over in America at the moment so I feel like I maybe might take it over there.”

Josie then asked him if he was bothered by ‘controversial headlines’ since he left the show, but Joey answered: “No, not really… I feel like my journey in the Love Island villa might have been a bit that way, controversy, but at the end of the day not everyone is going to love you all of the time, obviously, I know the situation. Luckily, I’m strong-minded and very resilient!”, reports the Mirror. Joey and Jessy were booted from the island, just before the show final after their fellow Islanders voted them the “least compatible,” meaning the couple lost the chance of winning the show’s grand prize of £50,000.

As Maya Jama hosted the live final from the villa, eagle-eyed viewers claimed they spotted Joey sporting a ‘fuming’ expression, noticeably peeved in the background. One viewer noted on X, which used to be called Twitter: “Joey fuming in the corner #loveisland”, while another echoed: “Joey is fuming he ain’t in the final #loveisland”. Another chimed in: “Joey is fuming. He really wanted to be in the finals #Loveisland” while a fourth commented: “Joey sat there watching wishing he was in that final #LoveIsland”. Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan went on to be crowned the winners of Love Island 2024. The pair beat Welsh couple Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies, who finished as runners-up. Fellow islanders Matilda Draper and Sean Stone came third on the show, while Jessica Spencer and Ayo Odukoya placed fourth.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
