Privacy Notice The BBC have confirmed that its popular show The Repair Shop is returning for a new series, with Jay Blades once again hosting alongside the team of skilled craftspeople who work in the converted barn to save people’s well worn or neglected treasures. The new series of The Repair Shop will start on Wednesday 14 August at 8pm on BBC One, The Sun reports. While Jay has other projects in the works for Channel 5, including Jay Blades: A Country House Through Time and West End Through Time, he continues to host the much loved BBC series and is also expected to appear in a spin off of The Repair Shop later this year. The spin off, called The Repair Shop On The Road, will have The Repair Shop’s team of restorers and repairers travelling around the country, repairing people’s treasures. However, the host will be given a smaller role as the new spin-off is reportedly set to focus less on Jay, and more on the supporting team of restorers from in the barn, as reported by The Sun. The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades lands huge TV deal with Channel 5 following break from BBC show
“This is a great vote of confidence in The Repair Shop’s presenter, even if it does see the limelight shift from him somewhat in this spin-off,” an insider told the publication. “It’s also another sign of just how successful the show has become in the seven years it’s been on our screens.” The Repair Shop launched in 2017 and has so far run for more than 300 episodes. It is filmed at the Weald and Downland Living Museum in Singleton, West Sussex and features much loved experts including clock restorer Steven Fletcher, carpenter Will Kirk, soft toy restoreres Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell (also known affectionately as the “Teddy Bear ladies”) and metal worker Dominic Chinea. Their most notable guest to the barn is King Charles III, who appeared in an October 2022 episode when he was still the Prince of Wales. He brought with him a piece of pottery made for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee and an 18th century clock that was restored by the experts. Jay recently posted a photo of The Repair Shop team with the comment: “Thought of the day: Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. Which equals, Community & Family.” Fans added their praise for the show, with one writing: “Are you back? Great to see you back doing what you do best,” and another commenting: “The Repair Shop makes the world a better place!” A third added: “You are all wonderful, brilliant, talented folk. Its the stories behind the pieces that melt the heart Jay.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
