Privacy NoticeWhen it comes to Christmas, one of the reasons why it’s the most wonderful time of the year is because of the food on offer. From overindulging on too many pigs in blankets, tucking into a tub of mini chocolates or eating mince pies by the tray load, nothing beats a good festive treat. And while Christmas classics – we’re looking at you, camembert – will never go out of fashion, there are some seriously intriguing and imaginative options on offer this year. Whether it’s salmon-infused gin or a block of boozy cheese, there’s a weird and wonderful foodie choice certain to delight the wannabe Heston Blumenthal at any family’s table. But are you brave enough to give them a try? Chocolate-covered tortilla chips M&S is known for iconic treats including beloved Percy Pigs but its newest arrival is somewhat more divisive. These aren’t just any crisps, these are habanero chilli-flavoured tortilla chips with a Belgian chocolate coating. Yes, your read that correctly. The traditional salty snack has been given an indulgent makeover and these available to pick up from shops nationwide throughout the festive season. We’re intrigued…

Salmon-flavoured gin Giving the classic ’70s starter a facelift, The Cocktail Society has devised a salmon starter martini. Combining salmon-infused gin with pepper and chive flavours, the cocktail packs a punch and promises to be unlike any drink you’ve had before. Not stopping there, the clever mixologists have created two other Christmas-inspired beverages – a pigs in blankets cocktail made with bacon-infused bourbon and a Christmas pudding martini featuring brandy and chocolate liqueur. So, why not give your usual three course meal a twist this year? (Whlie drink responsibly of course…) Heinz Christmas dinner in a tin

Heinz has turned its hand to creating the easiest Christmas dinner yet – though we can’t vouch for how appetising it is. The soupy concoction includes turkey, pigs in blankets, Brussels sprouts, stuffing balls and potatoes mixed together in a gravy and cranberry sauce. Just 500 times were released and they sold out in hours. However, Heinz have teased that this product could be back next year.

Brussels sprouts topped with Marmite If the chocolate chips weren’t divisive enough, M&S has another trick up its sleeve: Marmite Shredded Brussels Sprouts. Reigniting the saying ‘you either love it or hate it’, the retailer has shoppers split down the middle. One Facebook user even accused the brand of “ruining Xmas” but others were less disgusted and keen to embrace the salty side dish. Espresso martini cheese

There’s nothing we love more than a Christmas cheeseboard to send us into a food slumber and Aldi have well and truly catered for our needs. Satisfying the country’s appetite for a festive tipple, the supermarket has released Espresso Martini Cheese – a chunk of crumbly Yorkshire Wensleydale infused with coffee liqueur. For those less partial to a caffeine hit, Yorkshire Wensleydale with Raspberries and Pink Gin makes for an appetising alternative.
