Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing professional dancer Dianne Buswell has opened up about the ongoing scandal surrounding the show, as it approaches its 20th anniversary. Dianne attended the National Reality TV Awards on Wednesday night, July 31. She looked beautiful in a stunning light purple dress, and spoke to OK! on the red carpet. When asked about the legacy of the hit BBC One show, following Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice’s exits, Dianne said: “I love strictly and we all love it. Every time you step on the dance floor – you can’t help but smile and every time people come and watch the show, they love it, including the people at home.

“It is such a loved show and rightfully so because it is an amazing and incredible show. I think just let’s keep doing what we’re doing and all is good.” Graziano Di Prima was axed from the show last month – before he admitting to ‘kicking’ former celebrity partner Zara McDermott during rehearsals. At the time of his axing, Graziano said he regrets the events that led to his departure from the show. “My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime,” he said in an Instagram statement. Asked whether she had spoken to Graziano or Zara, Dianne responded: “No I haven’t – it is not really my place or my business.”

Giovanni Pernice will also not be returning for the show’s 20th year on screen, after claims of “abusive and threatening behaviour” from former dance partner, Sherlock actor Amanda Abbington. In January, it was reported that the actress had requested to view footage from what was described as ‘tense’ rehearsal sessions, sparking an inquiry into misconduct. Giovanni has strongly denied any wrongdoing. “There’s a blip in everything you do in life and nothing is ever perfect and nothing is how it goes,” Dianne told OK! When asked if she thought there was a ‘blip’ in the show’s legacy. “As far as Strictly, we are all so happy to be back and we are absolutely loving being there and doing all the group numbers and I think it is going to be a really amazing series.” The official line-up for the 20th anniversary has not yet been announced, however, Olympic Swimmer Tom Dean has already confirmed he’ll be taking part in the show, as he reached the final of the men’s 200 metres individual medley on Thursday night at the Olympics in Paris. “I thought it would be really exciting to try something a bit different. I’ll be doing that and straight back into training after it. It’s something to look forward to,” he said.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
