Privacy NoticeLoose Women star Katie Piper has pulled out of her breakfast show this week due to a medical emergency. The ITV presenter announced she would be stepping away from her role and would be replaced by Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins on Saturday, June 8. The 40-year-old shared the sad news with her fans on Instagram posting a picture which reads: “Back soon. Sadly I’m not going to be on my breakfast show this weekend as I’ve had to have an unexpected medical procedure. All is well and I hope after some rest I will be back in the hot seat next weekend.” The mum captioned the post: “I’ll be back soon. thank you @charlottehawkins1 for stepping in last minute.”

Katie regularly presents her Saturday morning chat show on ITV1 which features celebrity guests. Fans and fellow celebrities have sent well wishes to the star , with Carol Vorderman commenting: “Take care wonderful lady. You come first Telly is just telly. Sending huge love and respect xxx.” Charlotte Hawkins added: “Sending lots of love to you.” While Gabby Roslin said: “Sending you lots of love and healing energy beautiful girl.” Fans were left gutted at the news, with one commenting: “Sending love & a speedy recovery x” Meanwhile another person added: “Take care we shall miss seeing you.” Katie has been open about her health battles after surviving a horrifying acid attack by an ex-boyfriend in 2008 and going on to achieve a career in television. In 2009, inspired by a Channel 4 documentary that focused on Katie’s ordeal, Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell approached her and helped her set up the Katie Piper Foundation – a charity that helps burn survivors.

While in 2022, she received the OBE from the Princess Royal for her services to charity and victims of burns. Only recently, Katie underwent tarsorrhaphy surgery to her left eye, which joins parts or all of the upper and lower eyelids to completely close the eye. She said at the time of the procedure, which is used to help or heal the cornea: “In my case I am trying to preserve the eye, avoid perforation and loosing my eye completely. “Also, if this helps anyone else…. yes I do sometimes find it hard.
