Privacy NoticeScarlett Johansson’s husband, Colin Jost, is no longer on presenting duties at the 2024 Olympic Games. The Saturday Night Live comedian has been replaced at the last minute by Aussie meteorologist Luke Bradnam. Colin was booked to cover Olympic surfing for NBC, which is taking place on the island of Tahiti, rather than in France where the majority of the games are being held. However, Colin was relieved of his duties when ocean conditions turned too calm and he returned to the US. Enter the unassuming hero, Gold Coast weatherman Luke Bradnam, known mostly to Channel Nine viewers in Australia. He will be taking on the role with just a cameraman by his side compared to Colin’s large production team. Seizing the opportunity with true Aussie gusto, Luke has taken up the challenge stating, “I don’t muck around mate,” reports the Mirror. The Olympic surfing finals are expected to take place on Sunday 4 August at the stunning loation of Teahupo’o on the tropical island. The Sydney Morning Herald got the inside scoop from Luke, who was taken aback when he received the call to step in for Colin and spearhead the American broadcast. “I got a phone call as the surfing came back on line, it was literally just, ‘Colin’s not able to work it, could you please fill in for us?’ ‘What the f—? Sure,'” said Luke as he shared his initial reaction. “Now I’m doing these crosses [links to NBC in the US], they’ve got no idea who I am. I’ve done three crosses already today and I’ve covered the Americans today.” Sign up to OK’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

While Colin, Scarlett Johansson’s husband since 2020, brought his comedic flair to his segments, even trying out surfing himself, Luke had the privilege of commentating on one of the most thrilling days in competitive surfing history, featuring Australian surfers Jack Robinson and Ethan Ewing. The Aussie reporter also confessed to having initial doubts about Colin, feeling that the celebrity already had a lot going for him in life. However, his opinion changed after spending some time with him. “I didn’t want to like the guy,” Luke admitted.

“He’s way too good-looking, he’s funny, and he’s married to Scarlett Johansson. He’s got enough in life. But I spent two days on the boats with him, I just couldn’t help it, he was just a great bloke.” While the reason behind Colin leaving his role at the Olympics as NBC’s surfing correspondent has not been confirmed, the development occurs hot on the heels of the announcement that he will host a brand-new US game show, Pop Culture Jeopardy, which is due to begin filming later this month.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
