Privacy NoticeThe pop icon Britney Spears is set to be the star of her very own movie biopic and Universal Pictures is all in, having secured rights to Brit’s life story as told by herself in The Woman in Me. Hollywood big shot Jon M Chu, famed for his work on Crazy Rich Asians and In The Heights, will be calling the shots from the director’s chair on this one and he’s no stranger to musical flicks with the much-anticipated Wicked movies also under his belt. Britney’s been dropping some serious hints on X, what you might call Twitter once upon a time. She shared: “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt.” She added a little spice with: “He’s always made my favourite movies… stay tuned,” followed by a cheeky rose emoji and a camera emoji hinting at some big-screen magic on the horizon, reports the Daily Star.

But hold up, fans are totally buzzing on social media, especially Reddit, tossing around hot takes on who could fill Britney’s boots. Leading the pack, Sabrina Carpenter’s name is getting thrown into the mix big time, with a fan declaring: “I don’t think there’s anyone better than Sabrina Carpenter to play Britney.” Not everyone’s sold though, with a reply hitting back: “She doesn’t look like her, I feel like that is important but I agree she has the performance experience and stage presence.” But diehards are standing their ground, coming back with: “She’s one of the better actors Disney has put out, in my opinion. She’s got the thousand-watt smile, the insane stage presence, the not-so innocent appeal. Plus she can sing damn well. Feels like no-brainer to me.” Fans are buzzing on Reddit about who should portray Britney Spears in an upcoming project, with one fan suggesting: “Addison Rae needs to play her,” and another admitting: “I hate that this is maybe the only person I could agree with in a small way but I don’t immediately hate the idea. She would capture her looks and charm quite well.”

Reddit users thought Millie Bobby Brown could play Britney

Meanwhile, Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame has also been floated as a potential candidate for the role of Britney. One user speculated: “So… It’s gonna be Millie Bobby Brown isn’t it? I remember that being floated as a hypo[thetical] casting,” while another echoed: “What about Millie Bobby Brown.” Sydney Sweeney and singer Tate McRae have also been mentioned by fans as possible contenders for the coveted role. Yet, some believe that the role should go to a fresh face, with comments like: “We need the nationwide casting call. Give us an unknown talent!” Another chimed in supporting the idea of casting a newcomer: “I hope they go with someone relatively unknown or just waiting for their big break. Could be a career launching role if they do it right, but like you said these are some big shoes to fill!”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
