Laila recently hit the headlines when she spoke out about her Strictly experience in light of the recently controversy over the show, and her own experience with dance partner Anton Du Beke when she appeared on the show in 2009. And her character is also going to cause a stir in Walford when she arrives. Viewers have recently seen Nish persuading his granddaughter Avani to help him track down a mystery woman as part of a revenge scheme on Suki, who he knows is potting against him.

All will be revealed when Suki and Vinny have lunch at Walford East to discuss their scheme to rinse Nish. The pair are interrupted when Nish arrives with a guest in tow Suki is left reeling to see Ayesha with Nish. It turns out Ayesha is the widow of the man a jealous Nish killed 20 years ago, an crime which sent him to prison for two decades. At the time, Nish had become convinced that Suki was having an affair with Ayesha’s husband, Hardeep, and in a rage took his revenge. But, in fact, it was Ayesha who Suki was in love with, although she was terrified of her feelings and never acted on them. Suki only accepted her true self years later when she fell in love with Eve and left Nish. However, Ayesha’s arrival is going to upset things for Suki as the pair discuss their troubled past. While Suki and Ayesha catch up, Nish takes the opportunity to meddle as he plants a seed of doubt in Eve’s head about their close bond.

As the week goes on, we’ll see Eve take drastic action as a result of Ayesha’s arrival – as she proposes to Suki in the Vic in front of the whole Square to prove their love. How Suki reacts to Eve’s big gesture remains to be seen. Will her actions actually push Suki further way rather than bring them closer – and what part will Ayesha play in the drama? The EastEnders’ role is the latest in a series of soap roles for Laila. She first shot to fame as scheming Amber Gates in ITV’s glitzy drama Footballers’ Wives. She then starred in BBC medical drama Holby City as Sahira Shah.
