Privacy NoticeFor one week only Aldi is set to drop the price of an “incredible” wine that is celebrated by critics. But customers will be limited to two bottles at a time. Shoppers will be able to save £5.50 on the brand’s Specially Selected Cairanne as the price is slashed from £8.99 to £3.49 between December 11 and December 17. The better-than-half-price deal has been described as “Aldi’s Christmas present to the nation” by Jane MacQuitty, wine critic at The Times. Aldi’s Specially Selected Cairanne is described as rich and layered with a mocha and spice finish, offering aromas of forest fruits, plums, black cherry and damsons. It’s 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Carignan.

One wine expert advised shoppers to “set your clocks to go”, while one customer claimed: “My husband is already in the queue!” Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “These reductions are part of our efforts to make great quality wines affordable to all this Christmas. We’ve introduced a bottle limit to ensure as many of our shoppers as possible can buy and enjoy the Specially Selected Cairanne at such an incredible price.” Aldi is also dropping the price of more than 70 bottles in its Specially Selected wine range by 25%, from December 11 until December 24. The news comes after Aldi also announced it is reducing the price of some Christmas vegetables to just 15p.

From December 18 until December 24, Aldi shoppers will benefit from the Super 6 Deals price cuts. This includes 1kg bags of carrots, 2kg bags of white potatoes, 500g bags of parsnips, red and white cabbages, brussels sprouts sold in 500g packs and swedes. The bags of white potatoes will be priced at 15p, while the other vegetables will be 19p each. Alongside this, Aldi says the deals this year do not come at the cost of the supplier. This means that growers receive the same price for their product no matter the promotion or offer in-store. The news comes after Aldi was crowned the UK’s cheapest supermarket chain for November by Which? consumer champions. Each month Which? compares the price of a basket of goods from each of the major UK supermarkets. Last month, a basket of 47 items at Aldi was found to cost £76.77. Rival discounter Lidl was close behind however with a basket price of just 79p more at £77.56.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
