Privacy NoticeLoose Women star Coleen Nolan’s son, Jake Roche, 31, once toured the world with megastars like Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande, but he’s now back living with his mum on Universal Credit. It’s been just over a decade since Jake’s band Rixton soared to the top of the UK charts with their hit Me and My Broken Heart, outshining some of the biggest global music acts. However, The Mirror reports that the singer, who was once engaged to Little Mix star Jesy Nelson, has seen his fortunes fade in recent years. Jake seemed destined for fame, much like his dad, Eastenders’ Shane Richie (Alfie Moon), especially after his stint as Isaac Nuttall in Emmerdale in 2010. He left the soap two years later to pursue music.

In a candid chat with The Times, he reminisced about his band’s initial success in the States: “We kicked off big time in America. We hung around with Biebs (Justin Bieber) a fair bit,” reports the Daily Record. His band mingled with American celebrities and inked a deal with the prestigious Universal Music label. But then, unexpectedly, Jake’s luck took a turn for the worse. Reflecting on the sudden shift, he shared: “My calendar was blocked out every single day from the age of 18 until 23, 24 and then just nothing. I’d never experienced failure in my whole life. Every audition I would go to I would get. It blew me to smithereens.” Following his breakup with Jesy, Jake found solace moving in with Ed Sheeran, who later brought him along on tour.

But before long, he returned to his mum’s home and signed up for Universal Credit, confessing that he’s ‘hyper-aware’ of his luck compared to others, highlighting the perks of being a ‘nepobaby’. Meanwhile, Jake is eyeing the future with his fresh comedy musical Jake Roche: Neporrhoids!, set to entertain at the forthcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival on August 25. Describing his musical, Jake called it a “classic story of a teen pop star who gets it all and loses it all”.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
