Privacy NoticeTV presenter Emma Willis and her husband Matt have offered their words of wisdom to the contestants of Love Is Blind: UK after 16 years of marriage. The iconic ex-Big Brother host will be teaming up with her other half, Matt, to navigate hopeful romantics through the pod-based dating adventure that’s taken Netflix by storm. The show’s unique format has singles date unseen, leading to proposals and real-time romance before they reach the altar to either commit, or call it quits. Matt, 41, and Emma, 48, have been a couple for nearly two decades, tying the knot at Rushton Hall in Northamptonshire back in 2008. They’ve never shied away from sharing their relationship rollercoaster, with Matt battling his demons in the form of drug and alcohol addiction over the years. With Love Is Blind UK dropping today, the duo have spilled their secrets to marital bliss. Speaking to Best magazine, Emma advised: “Get ready to graft. Patience, give and take, and being able to communicate are all key.”

Matt chimed in with his own insight: “We’ve been married for 16 years now and there have been lots of ups and downs, but it’s always worth the work. It’s about being open with each other and honesty, because if you’re holding on to something, it will eventually come out as something else.” He also distinguishes between “being honest and being brutally honest”. His wife Emma nods in agreement, highlighting that “delivery is key”.

The series will see the couples getting to know each other inside the famous pods, before meeting when they first get engaged. They are then whisked away to a retreat in Corfu, where Matt says you could tell some of the couples were “head over heels for each other”. After heading back to the UK, they will spend time embedding into each other’s lives before heading to the altar. Emma says the decision to walk down the aisle is something the contestants “had to be in for the right reasons”, as a marriage isn’t “something to be taken lightly”. While Matt believes the pair could have fallen in love with each other unseen, he has previously revealed he would have worried about his chances with Emma. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “I would feel so pressured to say the right thing that I would say something stupid and regret it massively.” Emma disagrees, however, as she says Matt is the “most charismatic person” she has met, and has “no doubts” his personality would have shone through, even with the screen.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
