Privacy NoticeDuring a live broadcast of BBC Breakfast, Nina Warhurst couldn’t resist calling out her colleague when he unexpectedly mentioned the “c-word” way ahead of the festive season. While presenting on Wednesday (7 August), Ben Thompson and Sarah Campbell were at the helm on the iconic red sofa, delving into the day’s top stories from across the globe. They introduced a segment about Buy Now, Pay Later services with Nina, who brought attention to concerns raised by debt charities and the push from the new Labour leadership for tighter regulations to protect consumers using these financial services. Following Nina’s report, Ben remarked: “It’s really vital and dare I say it, people will be thinking about Christmas presents right? And spending now and wanting to spread that cost? “. Interrupting, Nina exclaimed: “I can’t believe you’ve mentioned the c-word. It’s August.”. Ben defended himself saying, “It’s not that long.” To which Nina humorously responded: “Someone is more organised than I am.” While this light-hearted gaff was only about Christmas, Nina herself did make a slip-up earlier this year where she accidentally said the other C-word – and had viewers in disbelief.

Back in February, Nina was talking about the country’s financial situation and the budget when she made the mistake. After host Jon Kay’s segment, Nina said: “Thank you, Jon. When tax c***s are announced, the public listens which is possibly why the Chancellor has hinted at this ahead of the election.” She went on to say: “But these are strong words from the well-respected Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) saying if the Treasury is planning on making savings through cutting tax without explaining how or where then the Chancellor will lack credibility.” While Nina clearly meant to say ‘Tax cuts’, viewers couldn’t help but laugh at the blunder. Taking to X, one wrote: “Nina on the #bbcbreakfast talking about tax c**ts. So finally the BBC is being accurate on the Tories.”
It comes after Nina returned from maternity leave where she welcomed her daughter, Nance
Another viewer replied: “I nearly fell off my chair when she said it!” while a third viewer confirmed: “Oh yeah we rewound it….she definitely said tax c**ts #BBCBreakfast.” A fourth BBC Breakfast fan remarked: “Oi oi… Tax c**ts on #BBCBreakfast.” One viewer wrote on Twitter: “I do believe Nina just slipped an extra ‘n’ into ‘tax cuts’ #BBCBreakfast.” Earlier this year, Nina returned from maternity leave where she welcomed her daughter, Nance, with husband, Ted last summer. On returning to the show, Nina was welcomed back by fellow BBC presenter Sarah Campbell during a segment coincidentally about the price of baby formula and Nina replied: “Thank you very much it’s lovely to be back. I have missed the gang. I’m missing the baby this morning very much but yeah it’s lovely to be back. Best job in the world. And best baby in the world.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
