But Judy continued to charm audiences with roles in Heartbeat, Midsomer Murders, Jonathan Creek and Vera, becoming a familiar face in some of viewers’ favourite shows. In 1963, she tied the knot with actor Tony Steedman, famed for his roles in iconic shows like Coronation Street, Citizen Smith, and The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes. The couple were then blessed with their son David in 1964. However, Tony sadly passed away in 2001 after a battle with Alzheimer’s and the actress since shared her harrowing experience with the disease, which her husband endured for three years, saying how isolating it felt. “That’s the thing with dementia. If you’re with somebody who has a serious illness you can usually talk to them, have a laugh every now and then – the person is still with you,” she penned in MailOnline in 2014. “With dementia, there’s no conversation, there’s no togetherness, no sharing,” she continued. “It leaves you feeling very alone in a marriage.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
