Ex-Corrie star Shayne Ward, Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri, comedian Chris McCausland and Miranda star Sarah Hadland were among the stars getting ready to work on their dance skills. But while they face their challenges as they begin to learn Latin, ballroom and the rest, the show itself faces its own troubles as the scandal currently hanging over it rumbles on. Shayne was only announced as a contestant on on Thursday morning, but was getting straight to as he headed into rehearsal that afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sarah and Chris were both also seen heading to rehearsal, Sarah dressed in a blue jumpsuit and silver heels, with a rather concerned expression on her face, while Chris was dressed in a brown jacket and jeans as he headed from his car to the dance studio. Other names announced for Strictly this year are EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick, Olympian Tom Dean, TOWIE star Pete Wicks, JLS hunk JB Gill, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, eighties icon Toyah Willcox and Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishan.

Producers are hoping the star line-up will help blow away the scandal which has hit the show in the last few months. Allegations were made about dancer Giovanni by Amanda, which he rejects.
