Privacy NoticeAmerican breaker Victor Montalvo is getting set to make his Olympic Games debut at Paris 2024. For the first time ever, Breaking – better known as breakdancing – will be included in the Olympics, with a set of talented dancers set to battle it out. Victor, 30, is one of 16 men taking part and will be representing America in the B-Boys events. The Olympic Breaking events kick off on 9 August with the women’s competition, followed by the men’s on 10 August. Despite competing on opposing teams, there’s no doubt Victor’s wife Kateryna Pavlenko will be cheering him on from the stands. Kateryna, 29, is also a breaker, known as B-Girl Kate, and hails from Ukraine.

She will also be making her Olympics debut at Paris 2024. Kateryna began her Breaking journey back in 2009 through a class labelled “extreme dancing”, which ultimately led her to taking up Breaking. It’s understood Victor and Kateryna have been in a relationship for many years. The couple began sharing posts on social media together back in 2017, and can regularly be seen posing for loved-up snaps on holidays and days out together. Now, the couple will both be representing their countries at Paris 2024 in the first ever Breaking event. There’s no doubt Victor will be feeling the pressure to bag a medal after winning the 2023 World Championship title, which led him to becoming the first ever American to qualify for the Olympics in the sport of Breaking.

Victor, who hails from Orlando, Florida, will be competing with fellow American breakers Jeffrey Louis, Logan Edra, and Grace Choi. Victor is well-known in the breakdancing world, having also won gold at the 2022 World Games and is a two-time Red Bull BC One champion. He was introduced to Breaking his father – Victor Bermudez, a Breaking pioneer in Mexico. Talking about his talents earlier this year, Victor, who is also commonly known as B-boy Victor, said he tries to “be original” and it “sets him apart” from other breakers. “I can dance, I can do all the crazy acrobatic stuff, I have style and I respect the culture,” Victor told Red Bull. “I have knowledge of where it came from, and I try to be original, too. I have everything, I’m an all-around b-boy. That’s what sets me apart.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
