Privacy NoticeFormer Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson, 34, has been open about her health struggles in recent years, and this week shared on Instagram how much her life has changed in the past year. Sharing photos from Ibiza, where she is holidaying with fiance Ryan Libbey, Louise posted about how different this trip is compared to one they took in May 2023 to St Lucia. Louise has previously spoken about her birth experience in 2021 when she had an emergency C-section that led to a number of complications including major blood loss and surgery without a general anaesthetic that also caused Louise to suffer post traumatic stress. She also had a major haemorrhage once she returned home and had to return to hospital, and her ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory disease, flared up. Louise has also since had part of her colon removed and a stoma bag fitted, and has been diagnosed with autoimmune condition lupus. In her post on Saturday 10 August, Louise posed in a variety of holiday outfits in Ibiza, some of which she said were “10+ years old” and included the hashtag #stomafashion and a photo in a chic crochet co-ord that showed her stoma bag. She also reflected on how, when she, Ryan and son Leo went on holiday to the Caribbean last year, it was a much more stressful trip, partly because when they arrived and she opened her suitcase she realised she didn’t recognise any of the items in her bag. “I had many moments like this back then,” she explained. “My belongings were just as jumbled as my brain. Maybe a reflection of what I was going through? Definitely a reflection. Trauma trickles through into EVERYTHING around you: your stuff, your work, your relationships, your entire life’s structure. Even a pathetic suitcase.”

Louise went on to reveal what she thought was wrong with her. “I’m typically a very orderly person so I often thought I was suffering with Alzheimer’s because the severe memory loss that PTSD brought with it was alarming. I know well by now that PTSD can cause lots of bloody awful symptoms, including hypervigilance and health anxiety, so there happened to be many logical explanations for this petrifying feeling that I was losing my mind.” In her post, Louise added that she spent a long time looking for a diagnosis at a time when the family were also moving home but now “everything is at home” and “everything has a place,” and she ended her positive message by writing, “Don’t forget to dress like it’s your #LastDayOnEarth!”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
