Privacy Notice Amanda Abbington ‘fears the BBC will bury its findings’ into her complaint over Giovanni Pernice’s behaviour during Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals. The findings were expected to be made public earlier this month. The date fell in the same week that disgraced news reader Huw Edwards appeared in court over child abuse images. The results of the investigation are expected to be revealed. A pal of Sherlock star Amanda said to The Mirror: “They didn’t want two catastrophes in one week.” Speaking on condition of anonymity, the friend said of the probe: “They delayed it because of Edwards. We can’t imagine they’ll do anything apart from carry on sitting on it and try to bury the investigation.”

A BBC source told the publication: “The Strictly report and the Huw Edwards case are entirely unrelated.” Giovanni denies any wrongdoing. The show has been hit with controversy as they gear up to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Graziano Di Prima will also not be returning as a professional dancer after gross misconduct towards celebrity partner Zara McDermott during rehearsals. Some of Giovanni’s former partners, including Laura Whitmore had also spoken to the BBC about the Sherlock actor’s claims. In a show shake up, producers have now made sure all pro-dancers and complete anti-bullying training ahead of the new series. Chaperones will also be in training rooms with welfare staff also on hand for all celebrity dancers and crew.

Amanda left the 2023 show early, later revealing she was suffering from PTSD. The star is said to have have requested footage of the duo’s ‘tense’ training sessions which lead to a misconduct investigation. Giovanni’s team have said they are ‘confident’ the pro dancer will be cleared. Last week, the BBC started to announce the celebrity line-up for this year, with stars including Ex-Corrie star Shayne Ward, Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri, comedian Chris McCausland and Miranda star Sarah Hadland among the names taking to the dance floor to compete for the glitter ball. Pete Wicks, best friends with Zara’s boyfriend, Sam Thompson has also been announced as part of the celebrity line up. Speaking about his decision to sign up, Pete said: “Dancing live in front of the nation every Saturday? Absolutely terrifying. But anyone who knows me knows I love a challenge and trying new things, so I’m genuinely looking forward to getting stuck in.” Commenting on his announcement reel on Instagram, the former Love Island star said she had “never been so excited”. “No words. So proud of you… the content we are going to make that you don’t even know about yet,” commented bestie Sam.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
