Privacy NoticeBBC’s much-loved wildlife series Animal Park is back on our screens, as host Ben Fogle heads to Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire to meet the animals of the enclosure and explore just what exactly goes on behind the scenes. We’re sure that Ben’s loved ones will be cheering on his latest project, including his wife Marina. The couple, who tied the knot in 2006, share two children, Ludovic Herbert Richard, who was born in 2009, and Iona, who was born in 2011. In the past, the Accidental Adventurer presenter’s wife Marina previously opened up about her and Ben, 50, becoming parents, and once revealed that she purposefully “set up an accident” to teach her daughter about safety when crawling down the stairs.

Writing in the Mail On Sunday back in 2017, the mum-of-two recalled the incident as she explained that it was now considered “dangerous” to “encourage your children to take risks”. As she made the confession, Marina revealed that she’d placed dog beds at the bottom of four stairs, so that if her daughter crawled down headfirst, she would “let her fall” on the soft landing, rather than intervene – though added that she was there to make sure she didn’t hurt herself. “I was obviously there to catch her and make sure she didn’t hurt herself, but the shock frightened her,” she wrote. “She cried for a bit but it was the last time she tried to go headfirst down the stairs.”

She also revealed how she and Ben gave their children whittling knives at Christmas in 2016. “[They] provided them with hours of entertainment while the (superficial) cuts taught them much better than we could have done to respect knives,” she added. Back in April this year, Ben explained how his “life flashed before his eyes” after he “nearly died” when he narrowly avoided being hit by a delivery van while he was out walking his dog near his home.

Just as it had done when my boat capsized on the Atlantic Ocean and when my oxygen bottle exploded on Everest, but this was on a dog walk outside my home.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
