Privacy NoticeCoronation Street enthusiasts were left utterly stunned after discovering that actor Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson on the show, has an identical twin. Liam, known for his role as Sean Tully’s (played by Antony Cotton) son, first graced the cobbles back in 2011, though his initial appearance was brief. After leaving Weatherfield with his mum Violet (portrayed by Jenny Platt), he took a lengthy break before making a splashy return in 2022. Since then, Dylan’s been at the centre of some intense drama, including a poignant bullying plot involving Mason Radcliffe (played by Luca Toolan) and Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall).

But it’s the off-screen revelations about Liam that have Corrie fans buzzing. On a dedicated Corrie fan page on Facebook, viewers expressed their amazement upon learning about Liam’s twin, reports the Express. One fan exclaimed: “I had no idea Liam was a twin.” Another was equally surprised and commented: “Wait what?!” A third added: “I didn’t know either just read up on it.” Another shared: “Never knew they were twins!” Liam initially shared the role of Dylan with his twin brother, Connor, when the character debuted in 2011. Connor, however, has since left acting to pursue his passion for cricket, aiming to become a professional cricketer.

We’re as close as anything. We’ve got our differences, but there’s definitely similarities.” The twins celebrated their 17th birthday in January, and Liam took to social media to share a loving message for his brother. “17 years of sharing a birthday with @connormccheyne never a day where we’re not laughing”, he wrote. He continued: “Both have different ideas and pathways, but we have the same person to always trust. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Another chapter is going to be written. Chapter 17! Here’s to another amazing year.” After returning to the cobbles after taking some time off last year to study for his GCSEs, Liam told Digital Spy he was thrilled to be back on set. Talking about the weighty bullying storyline he said: “I was very keen to take it on. With being off work for so long doing schoolwork, it was nice to get back to work rather than being stuck in school!”

The actor explained Dylan was being “bullied into being a bully” as he was targeted for having a gay dad, Sean Tully, played by Antony Cotton. Antony said that the scenes had brought him to tears, explaining on This Morning: “I love Liam, I’ve known him and his twin brother since they were babes in arms, I’ve known them all their lives mostly.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
