Privacy NoticeEmmerdale have detailed a secret about new character John Sugen – and fans believe it could be a painful break-up, or even a second identity. In last night’s episode Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodins) found one of his possessions while she was tidying up at home and handed it to him. It was a small tin box, which she hadn’t opened. When John (Oliver Farnworth) lifted the lid to check the contents Victoria was curious to see what was inside. She asked: “Is that a dog tag? Like from the army?” John looked concerned and confirmed to his half-sister had been in the army but that he didn’t want to talk about that time in his life telling her “it’s over”.

Victoria didn’t push John for any more details, and after she’d gone, John looked at the dog tag again. Viewers could then clearly see the name inscribed on it. It didn’t say John Sugden as expected, but ‘Aidan Moore.’ It remains a mystery who Aidan is, but will surely begin to unravel as scenes continue but fans have started speculating on the connection between John and Aidan. One fan posted: “Wonder if he has siblings on his mum’s side.” Another questioned: “Hmm, ex lover who maybe died?” A second fan theorised: “Ooh Aiden Moore, I wonder who that was. A previous fling of John’s maybe.” Another added: “Who’s that a boyfriend that died or he killed him? ” A fourth added: “I guess Emmerdale is going to go the most predictable route for John, he must have lost his love or something. And should we feel sorry for him? I just want him to go far away.”

It comes after John sought revenge on Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) after his van was stolen, and ended up in a lake when Mack failed to put the handbrake on. John was distraught because the van was also his home, with him lashing out and vowing to make them both pay. The drama continued in the latest episode as Mack and John clashed, with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) urging Mack to make amends. Mack taunted John for living in his van with all his possessions thought to be in there. Cain then offered John a job so he could earn some money while his van was being repaired. It turns out, John has worked as a farmhand before, which was nice news for Victoria, as their father, Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby) was also a farmer in Emmerdale. And for Victoria, it means John is forced to stick around longer than he anticipated.
